TERMS

The deal, in plain words.

These are the terms for using Squad while it is in beta: what you can expect from us, and what we expect from you.

Last updated 18 October 2026

The short version
  • Squad is a beta. It costs nothing while the beta runs, it will have bugs, and your data may be reset.
  • Members act for you only when you say yes, or inside permissions and allowances you set. You are responsible for what you approve.
  • Members are AI, and AI gets things wrong. Check anything that matters before you rely on it.
  • Your content stays yours. You give us only the permission we need to run Squad for you.

Who provides Squad

Squad (โ€œweโ€, โ€œusโ€) provides the Squad apps, this site, and the service behind them. You can reach us at [email protected]. Our postal address is [postal address to be added].

These terms are an agreement between you and Squad. By creating an account or using Squad, you agree to them. If you do not agree, do not use Squad. The privacy policy explains what we collect and what we do with it, and forms part of these terms.

A beta, and what that means

Squad is in an open public beta, installed through Apple's TestFlight. It is provided as it is and as available. In practice that means:

Features change. Things will appear, change and disappear between builds, sometimes without notice.

Expect bugs. There will be outages, crashes, and members that get things wrong or do not finish what they started.

Your data may be reset. We do not keep backups of beta data yet. A fault, or a change we have to make, may mean your squads, threads, memories and connections are lost and you start again. Do not keep anything in Squad that you cannot afford to lose. You can download everything under Account, then Privacy & data.

Nothing is charged during the beta. Squad itself costs nothing while the beta runs, and purchases inside a TestFlight build go through Apple's test system and are not real charges. If you approve something a member buys for you, such as a delivery or a ticket, you pay the seller for it as you would anywhere.

The beta can end. TestFlight builds expire, and we may end the beta or stop offering Squad. We will try to say so in the app first.

Tell us what goes wrong. In the app, Account, then Report a problem, or write to [email protected]. More ways are on the support page.

Who can use Squad

You must be at least 13 to use Squad. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may use Squad only with the permission of a parent or guardian, who agrees to these terms for you. To approve purchases, bookings or payments, you must be old enough to make a binding contract where you live.

You may not use Squad where the law forbids it, or if we have closed an account of yours for breaking these terms.

Your account

You sign in with your phone number, Apple or Google. Keep them secure: anyone who can sign in as you can talk to your squad and approve what it does. One account is for one person; do not share it or sign in as someone else.

You are responsible for what happens under your account, including what people you invite into a shared squad do with the access you give them. If you think someone else has got in, sign out every other device under Account, then Security, then Devices, and write to [email protected].

What your squad does

Squad gives you a team of AI members in one group chat. Depending on what you connect and allow, they can plan, look things up, remember what you tell them, read the calendars, mail and files you connect, draft and send messages, join you on calls, and book or buy things for you. They run on models from other companies, named in the privacy policy. They have names and faces, but they are software, not people.

AI output can be wrong. Members can misunderstand you, get facts wrong, invent details, miss things, or act on information that is out of date. Check anything that matters before you rely on it, especially anything about money, health, law, travel or safety. Squad is not a doctor, lawyer, financial adviser or emergency service. In an emergency, call your local emergency number.

Approvals, permissions and allowances

A member acts in the world only in one of two ways: you approve the action, or it falls within a standing permission or allowance you set up. Some actions always ask you first, whatever you set, such as spending money, booking or ordering, and sending anything as you. Others, such as looking things up or reading a calendar you connected, run without asking unless you change that. You can set what each member may do under Account, then What members may do.

An allowance lets one member spend with one shop, up to a total, until a date you choose, never more than a month ahead. One switch under Account, then Security, then Buying without asking stops every allowance at once.

Read what you approve. An approval card says what will happen. When you say yes, or set up a permission or allowance that lets a member act without asking, you are authorising that action, and you are responsible for it as if you had done it yourself: the message sent, the booking made, the money spent, and the terms of the seller or service involved. Every action is in the Log (Work, then Log) with what allowed it. If a member ever does something you did not approve or allow, tell us at once at [email protected].

Connected services

When you connect Google, Microsoft, Apple Health or another service, you let Squad use it with the access you grant. Those services are run by other companies under their own terms and privacy policies, which apply to your use of them. So do the terms of the shops, venues, websites and people your members deal with for you. We do not control them, and we are not responsible for them, for whether they are available, or for changes they make that stop Squad working with them.

You can disconnect a service in the app at any time. Squad then deletes the stored grant and asks the service to revoke it where it can. You can also remove Squad's access in that service's own settings.

Purchases and subscriptions

Squad charges nothing during the beta. When paid features arrive, such as premium members or plans with higher limits, they will be sold as subscriptions through Apple's App Store. You will see the price before you buy, Apple takes the payment and its terms apply, and a subscription renews until you cancel it in your Apple account settings. Refunds are handled by Apple under its own policies.

Things a member buys for you with your approval are paid to the seller through our payment provider. The seller is responsible for what they sell you, including delivery, returns and refunds.

Texting and iMessage

Squad on iMessage is not live yet. When it is, these rules apply.

Consent. By starting Squad on iMessage in the app, or by texting one of your members' numbers, you agree to receive texts from your squad's members at the number you used. Your carrier's message and data rates may apply.

Stopping. Reply STOP in any thread and the squad stops texting you there. You can also turn it off under Account, then With friends, then Squad on iMessage.

Guests. If you add other people to a group thread with your squad, you must have their permission, and they should know the members are AI. What guests write reaches your squad's thread. The squad never acts on a guest's say-so: it does not use your account, your connections or what it remembers about you for them. Guests must follow the acceptable use rules below.

Do not use Squad to text people who have not agreed to hear from you, or to send marketing or bulk messages.

Acceptable use

Use Squad lawfully and decently. Do not use it, or ask a member, to:

  • break the law, or help anyone else break it;
  • harass, threaten, deceive, impersonate or harm anyone, or send people messages they do not want;
  • create or share sexual content involving minors, or anything that exploits or endangers children;
  • get into accounts, systems or data you are not allowed to;
  • get around the limits Squad puts on members, such as approvals, allowances or blocked sites, or try to make a member ignore them;
  • overload, disrupt or probe the service for weaknesses without our permission, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows;
  • copy or scrape the service, resell access to it, or use it to build a competing product or train models;
  • infringe anyone's intellectual property or privacy, including by sharing other people's personal data you have no right to share.

We may refuse, limit or pause requests that look like abuse. If you find a security problem, please tell us at [email protected] rather than testing it on other people's data.

Your content

What you put into Squad (messages, files, voice and what you connect) and what members make for you is your content, and you keep whatever rights you have in it. You give Squad a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, process, transmit and display your content, only as needed to run Squad for you, keep it secure, fix problems, and comply with the law. That includes sending the relevant part of it to the model providers and other services named in the privacy policy. The licence ends when your content is deleted, except for what the privacy policy says we keep, such as the action record.

We do not sell your content and we do not use it to train AI models. Our team looks at it only when you send it to us in a report, when you give support access in the app, to investigate abuse or a safety report, or when the law requires.

You are responsible for your content and must have the right to share it, including anything about other people. What members produce may not be unique, and other people may get similar results.

Feedback

If you send us ideas, suggestions or reports, we may use them to improve Squad without paying you or owing you anything for them.

Suspension and termination

You can stop using Squad at any time, and delete your account under Account, then Privacy & data.

We may suspend or close your account, or limit what your squad can do, if you break these terms, if your use puts other people or Squad at risk, if the law requires it, or if we end the beta or the service. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you why first and give you a chance to download your data. The parts of these terms that by their nature should last beyond that, such as the disclaimers and the limit on liability, still apply after your account is closed.

Disclaimers

Squad is a beta, provided as it is and as available, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy and non-infringement, to the fullest extent the law allows. We do not promise that Squad will be uninterrupted, secure or free of errors, that what members produce will be accurate or complete, or that your data will be kept. Some places do not allow some of these exclusions, so they may not all apply to you.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Squad is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, revenue, data or goodwill, arising from your use of Squad, even if we were told they were possible. Our total liability for any claim about Squad is limited to the greater of what you paid us for Squad in the twelve months before the claim, or US$100.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, you keep the rights the law where you live gives you, and these terms do not take them away.

Apple

If you got Squad through Apple, Apple is not a party to these terms and is not responsible for Squad or for supporting it. Apple's own terms for the App Store and TestFlight also apply.

Changes to these terms

We will update these terms as Squad changes. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect, rather than quietly changing the date at the top. If you keep using Squad after that, the new terms apply. If you do not agree to them, stop using Squad and delete your account.

The legal bits

These terms are governed by the laws of [governing law to be added]. If you live somewhere with consumer protections that cannot be set aside by agreement, you keep them, and you can bring a claim in your local courts.

These terms and the privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Squad. If part of them cannot be enforced, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce something straight away, we have not given up the right to. We may transfer these terms as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of our business; you may not transfer them without our agreement.

Contact

Questions about these terms go to [email protected], and a person reads them. Our postal address is [postal address to be added]. Help with the app is on the support page.
